Condoléances
When I was 14 years old or so I lived with the Kenyons. One day I was going to the store on my bike and Gail asked if I would take her along. Well I asked my Aunt if it was OK and she gave her permission. On the way back Gail who was about 5 or 6 at the time was sitting on the bar of my bike and accidentally got her foot trapped in the spokes of my front wheel. As you can imagine we took quite a spill but were not seriously injured just some scrapes and bruises. Well when I got Gail home she was still wailing and I sure caught what-for from my aunt. Gail and I shared this memory a few years ago and it made her laugh a little.
To Gail's family and friends, my sincere condolences. Gail was a good friend to my Mother, Dianna Fletcher. Mom spoke fondly of her. I know she will be sincerely missed by the folks in Fournier.
I first met Gail when i was 16 yrs old. We met at work and quickly became friends. I was honored that she chose me to be her friend, I was never a very popular girl, and Gail was the complete opposite. We worked at a few jobs together, and at one of those jobs I met her best friend Linda. The one thing that stands out the most for me was her love for her son. I remember being at her apartment one day when little Ray came home from school all excited because he had learned a new song. She asked him to sing it for us, but he was too shy in front of me, so she told him to stand behind the door to his room and sing, so we couldn't see him, but could hear him. Did he ever sing up a storm, she was so proud of him, I thought it was so cute. I also recall us going to bingo with her mom, and Ray would sit quietly beside her as she played.Even though we both lived at different ends of the city, we saw alot of each other. Both of us taking the bus back and forth. There is so much more I could say about her, so many stories. She will always remain in my heart and in my thoughts.
Gail was my best friend since high school, where we met in our 1st year (1971) in a hallway. She caught my eye because Gail, being very outspoken, was cracking some kind of wise remark at a guy friend of mine. When I first saw her, I remember thinking how uniquely beautiful she was with her tanned skin, her thick black hair and big dark eyes. How I wished I was as out spoken, and straight to the point, as she was, as I was a bit shy and quite quiet!! She was special yet she chose me to be her friend and we became loyal friends from that day on. We shared so many memories that they are too many to mention here, but I will share one just so you know the type of person Gail was. A gang of us were standing by one of the entrances of the school, during a recess break, where some were having their cigarettes when someone yelled that Mrs.Schultz (the principal) was coming. All the smokers immediately tossed their cigarettes but for some reason Mrs. Schultz decided that one cigarette butt belonged to me and took me, from the crowd, down to the office. Much to my surprise, as I stood waiting in the office for Mrs.Schulz to call my parents, Gail appears in the office. She went right up to Mrs.Schultz and told her she was wrong and that the cigarette butt belonged to her!! Although it did not help my case, no one else would have taken that risk but Gail did, for me, as she did so many times in my life. For me, Gail has always been an angel, always there for me through thick and thin. Now she is an angel in Heaven watching over all of us... Everyone should have one friend like Gail in their lifetime. I have been so lucky to have had her in mine for 40 years!!
I do not have one particular story to share but I do have many memories of Gail Linda and myself hanging out at "People Park" in Montreal North, we talked, laughed and had some pretty good times there. I also remember having a great time at Normandy Shopping center at lunch time when we were attending Malcolm Campbell.
