Nécrologie de Doris Arvilla Landriault

Doris Arvilla Stuart Landriault R.N. February 11, 1922 – August 10, 2016. Doris is the daughter of the late Charles Stuart and Arvilla Lusk, Edmonton Alberta. She was the devoted spouse of the late Victor Landriault for 65 years. She was pre-deceased by her sister Hazel Anna Stuart and brother John Stuart. Survived by daughter Michelle (J. Denis Seguin) Vankleek Hill, and her son Pierre-Joseph “Joe” (Jane Kelly) Avoca. For her loving grandchildren: she is Granny to Gabriel and Luc (Joan Mercurio), Melissa and Nicholas (Lisa McMachen); and, Omi to Amanda, Ashley and Mark. Three great-grandsons know her as GGMa: Victor, Chase and Quintin – ‘let’s go for a ride on the walker!’ Doris leaves behind her loyal brother and sister, Brian Stuart (Gay) and Shirley-Mae Stuart Horrester and her lovely longtime sister-in-law Diane Ringuette Landriault. We thank her many nieces and nephews, and friends for their bon voyage well wishes. She also bid farewell to her second family, the Kelly Family of Avoca, for whom she had a very warm heart. Raised in Edmonton and Calgary, Doris attended the Chatham School of Nursing. From there she first went to work in Northern Ontario, then went on to become Head Nurse of Obstetrics, Lachine General; worked at Queen Mary Veterans Hospital, and the Lakeshore General. Doris had an extended career as office nurse for immunologist Dr. Leo Morris, Pointe Claire. Doris’ life was a mix of great style and whimsical fashion, lovely perfumes, and the ability to quickly inoculate a cow and calf. The Empress Avenue Bridge Club was a Tuesday night religion. Doris had a sense of adventure that saw her travel the world into parts unknown. She carried a rueful sense of humour, and a no-nonsense approach to life because she just thought things could always be done better. On the one hand, Mom had a soft spot for anyone of her own who was in difficult times. On the other hand, none of us wanted to fall under the ‘stinky eye look’ as Ashley calls it. She loved us, and we loved her. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Avoca Cemetery at 11 a.m. on August 26, 2016. A light lunch reception will be held at the Avoca Community Hall.
