Nécrologie de Gaetan Duval

Gaetan Duval passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in Hawkesbury. He was the loving partner of Henryka Prekob. A proud, devoted father to Carol Jones and Mark Duval (Duane Normandeau). He was a fun-loving grandfather to Sarah and Lisa, who will miss him dearly.

Gaetan is survived by his cherished siblings, Mariette (late Louis Dupelle), Maurice (late Thérèse), Yvon, Huguette, Robert (Trudy), and Roger (Diane). He was predeceased by his brothers, Leo (late Alice), Constant, and his sister Murielle (Merle Howes).

He will be lovingly remembered by Henryka’s children, Steve, Andrew (Andrea), Darlene (Pierre), Debbie (Michael), and Robert (Michelle) and their families, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, especially his cousin Carol Potvin and his many friends.

Gaetan was always out and about, socializing and staying busy. He was a regular at Nicko’s coffee club, where Louise and staff, who affectionately called him “Minu,” will feel his absence alongside his many friends. Church held a special place in Gaetan's heart, and he was a man of deep faith, attending mass every Sunday and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.

Known as a gentle giant, he loved tinkering, building, and creating with his hands. A skilled carpenter, his last  project was helping with the installation of the floor at the club l’Age D’Or Reveil.

Family and friends are invited for visitation on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Saint-Grégoire-de Nazianze Church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m.

A reception will follow at the Vankleek Hill Fair Grounds, a place dear to his heart and he never missed attending the fair each summer.

In memory of Gaetan, donations to CHEO would be greatly appreciated by the family. A Tree of Remembrance will be planted in the McAlpine Forever Forest in Vankleek Hill.
