His patience and knowledge of how the building worked out him at the center of everything related to the maintenance of LRHS. We laughed and teased each other a lot over those years. I will miss the chance meetings with him at the post office in VKH. Rest in peace Bates.

Bates was always a great friend of my brother Bob Hay and so was a friend of mine. Wonderful memories we just shared yesterday. RIP Bates!

I'll always remember Bates as a true sporting gentleman and reflect on the many times we would meet on the curling ice.
