Nécrologie de Walter Ekiert

On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in his 94th year, Walter passed away peacefully. He was the loving husband of Dorothy for 70 wonderful years and a devoted father to Stephan (Janelle) and Leon (Nanc). He will be forever cherished as the beloved grandfather of Connor. Step grandfather of Nicholas, Bradley, Jamie, Liam, Nia, Rory, and Kieran and great step grandfather of Michelle, Jacob, Daniel, Vienna, Norah, Gracen and Raeya. Walter is survived by his sister-in-law Joan (the late Joe Ekiert), his nephews Robert and Larry, and his nieces Sharon and Carolyn.
 

Walter enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with Air Canada, realized his lifelong dream of flying by obtaining his glider pilot’s license and enjoying many years as a member of the Montreal Soaring Council, and enjoyed the many woodworking and home improvement projects that he completed over his lifetime. In his retirement, he found relaxation and joy working in the woods on his property, learning and developing his passion to improve the woodlot. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 151 Bond Street, Vankleek Hill on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30. A Memorial Service will follow at St John the Apostle Anglican Church, 5845 ON-Highway 34, Vankleek Hill at 1:00 p.m. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow in the Church Hall. 

A Tree of Remembrance for Walter, will be planted in the McAlpine Forever Forest
