Dear Stewart: I just recently I learned of Douglas' passing. We have lost the Irvine family archivist. Thankfully, I took some notes during our lengthy conversations, but only Douglas would know if the dates were correct and the information complete. I will miss those calls. Sending your our sincere condolences, Stewart. We loved Douglas' enthusiasm for all things Irvine and the way he cared for the land and for you and Dorothy (who I am sure is pleased to be reunited with Douglas). You must miss him terribly. Thinking of you at this difficult time, Stewart. Jane Andrew (daughter of Kathryn McGillivray Irvine Andrew and George Andrew) and and family (Michael, Kate and Alec Fobert, now living in Thornbury, Ontario)
I never met Douglas but we had several phone calls when Dorothy (Ms. Irvine) was in hospice. He was a lovely man to speak with.
Godspeed Douglas! My deepest condolences to Stewart and his extended family, and to the community of Dalkeith.
Our sincere sympathy to Stewart and the extended Irvine family.
Stewart, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. As cousins, Douglas and I stayed in touch with yearly birthday calls. He will be missed. Our deepest sympathy to you .
