Nécrologie de Burton McHardy
October 9, 1948 - July 11, 2023
Tragically while touring in Curagila, Cantons of Grisons, Switzerland, Burton Kenneth McHardy of Grenville Sur-La-Rouge, at the age of 74, passed on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. Predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Florence McHardy. Burt was the beloved husband of the late Brenda (née MacTavish). Dearly loved brother to Jane (Joe Phillips) and Helen (Lloyd Sweeney). Cherished loving brother-in-law to Garry (late Joan Clarke), Reid (late Debbie Mott), Sheila (Larry Kennedy), Dale (late Burt Bates), Kim (Ken Westgate), Richard (Darlene Bates), and Colleen (Tim Kirkpatrick). Fun loving and adventurous uncle of Dawna, Jeff, Scott, Tracy, Curtis, Casey, Josh, Cory, Chelsea, Denver, Candice, Haily, and Sam. Proud great uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Burt was a local legend, with a great smile and positive outlook on life that touched many. Burt and his father established and operated a service station in Calumet that grew to be a local well-known hub, known as “Burts” providing lots of employment opportunities for youth in the area. In memory of his soul mate, Burt also established the Brenda McHardy Education Award with the local elementary school. A passionate companion to their dogs, Buff, Brannigan, and Fannie who fulfilled the lives of Burt and Brenda throughout the years. He will always be known for living his life to the fullest and never turning down the opportunity for an adventure. Burt thoroughly enjoyed retirement travelling, skiing, and motorcycling across numerous countries. He always made time for visits with friends and family along the way. Burt's outgoing personality, generous spirit and infectious laughter will be fondly remembered by all.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Burt's Life on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at the Grenville Community Centre - Ronald Tittlit Centre, 21 rue Tri Jean, Grenville, Quebec from 1 pm to 4 pm with a Sharing of Memories at 2 pm.
