Mildred was a kind neighbour on Pleasant Corners Road and respected colleague at Pleasant Corners Public School. She treated her students well, something which I as a young teacher wanted to emulate. The Vankleek Hill Historical Society is very grateful to Jack and Mildred. Our ongoing storm window project at the Vankleek Hill Museum is a lasting tribute to their kindness. Children who visit the Museum have enjoyed trying on some of the many hats that Mildred donated from her own collection. I enjoyed all my conversations with this loving couple, and I know they quietly supported many projects that benefitted our community, in particular for children. Please accept our sincere condolences. They were each one of a kind, and they are together again.
