Barbara was just a joy. I enjoyed my visiting stops where she shared news, with such enthusiasm, of her family and members of her Community. If there is such a thing as "almost cared too much" that was Barbara. Wishing the family the comfort of loving memories.

"Godmother's Fill your Heart with Love and Light", and that was so true of Auntie Barbara. While I didn't grow up as close to all my aunts and uncles and cousins as would have been ideal, Auntie Barbara was the guiding light. Never forgetting a birthday, a Christmas (even when she had dozens of grandkids...and later great grandkids to care for!), a special occasion, a sad event - her support and presence was unwavering even if it was a call to say "I don't know what to say but i'm here for you". Over the years, I gathered quite a collection an little angels that Auntie Barbara would send me - they always made me feel special, loved, watched over - but most importantly - connected - connected to my extended family and to my mom's home. For, no matter where we lived, Vankleek Hill was always referred to as home.
When I think of Auntie Barbara not only do I think of homemade buns (no one out west could Ever perfect that recipe!) but I think of all of you. She brought you all to life for us - she connected us in ways that I am so thankful for. A true matriarch, her love never ending, her laughter contagious and her generosity truly admirable - she could bring a story to life, make a stranger a friend and kept the art of letter writing alive.
I remember each and every visit she made out west - thank you to her family for always accommodating - we know some trips were more planned out that others! - but she got to know my kids and because of Auntie Barbara I had a window into an extended family that has been through so much and has pulled together time and time again. I know your hearts are broken, as ours are as well. Lots of love as you come together to celebrate a soul that loved deeply and lived for helping and enjoying love in others.
Condolences to the Barton family, Barbara will not be forgotten, she was a kind, thoughtful, generous, person always ready to help, especially seniors in her community. May you ready in peace dear girl we will miss you.
