Nécrologie de Hugh Turner
April 5, 1938 – July 28, 2022
Hugh Turner passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from complications of COVID and pre-existing lung and heart diseases. He leaves behind his beloved wife Ann, daughter Donna-Lynn (Lara), son Brian (Jennifer), grandchildren Patrick and Chloe and his brothers Peter and Paul.He met the love of his life Ann playing in a teacher’s bowling league in 1963 and they have been inseparable ever since. He was a dedicated educator for 36 years, first as a teacher and then principal with the Ottawa and Carleton Boards of Education, and he still remembered his students’ names when he’d bump into them years later. As a teacher, he was able to spend summers with the family at his favourite spot - the cottage on Lac Patterson - where he enjoyed being in the boat or canoe or out waterskiing. In more recent years, he just loved spending peaceful time by the lake with Ann. One of his other favourite spots over the years was the chalet at Mont Tremblant where he and Ann would be among the first ones out on the ski hill in the morning. Hugh will be missed by his many dear friends and poker buddies. He was a volunteer for years with Jump Rope for Heart, and his life was prolonged by research into heart disease, so the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
