Brigitte was such an inspirational individual who took the time to engage during my trips to Ottawa. She extended her knowledge, insight and experience; these exchanges encouraged so many of us. Ayant pris ma retraite de la fonction publique et quitté le SCC à la fin de 2018, j’ignorais tout du combat de Brigitte contre le cancer du poumon. J’ai eu le privilège de collaborer avec Brigitte au travail, en particulier concernant la mise en oeuvre de la Charte des droits des victimes,. Elle fut une alliée de taille dans un environment qui favorise, mandat du SCC oblige, la gestion des délinquants. Je garde le souvenir d’une collègue brillante, stratégique, vaillante, axée sur les résultats et qui ne visait qu’à collaborer dans l’atteinte d’objectifs communs. Respect et admiration pour elle, tant pour son professionnalisme que son dévouement et son humanisme, incluant son engagement dans la recherche pour contrer le cancer du poumon, une grande démonstration d’altruisme qui ressemble tellement à la Brigitte que j’ai connue. Beaucoup, mais beaucoup trop jeune pour mourir. Sincères condoléances à toute la famille.

Sincere condolences Liam, Kiera and Kyle. There are not enough words to describe Brigitte and the immeasurable ways that she inspired those around her. Our beautiful, intelligent, considerate, unique, and fun Brigitte will live on.

I met Brigitte at the park with infant Kiera, we instantly connected and made plans to take our babies to story time at the library. I admired Brigitte’s techniques for feeding our babies healthy food without them knowing it. Over the years Brigitte supported me, she listened to my career aspirations and always made time for me, no matter what her schedule was like. After our conversations, I believed more in my own abilities. I am ever grateful for her friendship.

I met Brigitte when she was at the Parole Board and I was at Public Safety. We were moving Bill C-83 through Parliament and she was wonderful at Committee Hearings, confidently responding to any questions about the Parole Board. We had very companionable walks back from Parliament Hill to our respective offices. 

A few years later, Brigitte was the DG in the Women Offender Sector when i joined CSC, and provided me amazing guidance and support every day. With her passion, intelligence, lightening quick mind and wit, she was a joy to work with. And she glowed when she talked about her husband and children.

Toutes mes sympathies a la famille. J'ai connu Brigitte surtout par téléphones à partir de 2008, au SCC. Je travaillais au Québec, elle était ma référence à Ottawa en matière d'application des politiques. Son jugement était toujours juste et concret. Elle nous donnait un service hors pair, pour nous aider. Grande gentillesse avec beaucoup d'empathie. Rapidement nous avons connecté. Un jour je lui ai fait part de ma difficulté à atteindre mon niveau de bilinguisme. Généreusement elle m'a offert de regarder pour moi les possibilités d'un travail temporaire à NHQ, pour améliorer mon anglais. Elle a réussi et m'a introduite à son équipe de travail. C'était à l'automne 2009, enceinte, elle a quitté quelque semaines après mon arrivée. Mon expérience de quelques mois a NHQ m'a servi tout au long des années qui ont suivis dans la région du Québec et c'est à elle que je le dois. AH oui ! J'ai réussi mon test de bilinguisme .... Je suis contente d'avoir eu la chance de la remercier pour cela l'été passé. Repose en paix ma belle ...

Brigitte was one of a kind and unique. We never met someone like her. She was kind, sweet, reliable, devoted, faithful, always attentive to others, the best daughter her parents could have had, the most wonderful sister, an outstanding mother and wife. She was simply the BEST! She was our HERO! Even during the battle against her illness, she was positive, responsible and encouraged everyone. She always thought of others before herself. We were very lucky to have known her. She leaves a big void in those around her. We will always remember her, love her and miss her a lot! Brigitte, you deserve heaven and may God rest your soul in peace!

Brigitte was an exceptional person, full of joy, humor, compassion and loyalty. She was always ready to help or give you valuable advice when we worked together. She was an example to me of a hard worker, never counting her hours, whether at work or even on weekends. An amazingly empathetic, innovative and decisive leader, she guided her employees through challenges, always looking for solutions to contribute to the long-term success of the organization. Rather than making things personal when they encountered problems, or blaming individuals, she always looked for constructive solutions and focused on moving forward. I learned a lot from this person, both professionally and personally. I will always love Brigitte and remember her for her thoughtfulness, kindness and drive. We always had time to laugh, to discuss our way of seeing the world or our way of seeing things in our professional and personal lives. I consider myself lucky to have been close to her when we worked together or during her battle with her illness. I always wanted to show her how much all of her friends supported her in her battle with cancer and that we were there for her as she would have been for any of us. I remember that she was able to convince her co-workers at the Board, of which I was part of, to participate in a 5K race against other federal civil service departments. We were even able to win and carry over the winner's trophy for two consecutive years. Only Brigitte could put together a team with no racing experience and beat colleagues from other departments with more experience than us, that's determination.....and that's my friend Brigitte. She was always telling me about her beautiful family and how much she loved Kyle, Kiera and Liam, and the whole Brigitte family - she loved you guys so much. I consider myself lucky and honored to have had you in my life. I will always remember your drive, your beautiful smile and your good humor every day. Kyle Kiera and Liam, please be assured that your mother was extremely appreciated and loved by all of her co-workers and friends, and that she made a difference in each of our lives. She will be remembered forever, and I am looking forward to the day that we will all be together again. All my condolences to Kyle, Liam and Kiera and the family.

We knew Brigitte for such a short time but she will forever be in our memories. I will always love and remember Brigitte for her thoughtfulness, kindness, and her spunk. We had so many fun times: playing poker with the poker princesses (but really doing more talking and eating than actual card playing); snowshoeing (one time laughing ourselves silly when we fell and couldn’t get up out of the deep snow); Christmas cookie baking parties and countless Halloween parties where she and Kyle were always the most fun and generous hosts; playing Ultimate where chatting with her on the sideline was as much fun as playing the game, and so many other moments big and small that are some of my favourite times of the past two decades.

Even when B was going through so much, she still went out of her way to be there for me and all of her family and friends. She was an amazing human being and she will be forever missed.

I met Brigitte for the first time at Katherine’s cottage. My mission was to capture in photo their friendship and complicity. We had so much fun. At the end of the day, tired, Brigitte was so happy. She asked permission to hug me. It was like we knew each other for a very long time. We laughed, talked about life, kids, work.
