Dear Liz (Joe),

I am very saddened to learn that your dad passed away a week ago today. I was at the Manoir on that day, keeping my eyes open in case I ran into you.

I know that your dad's passing is devastating to you, your sisters and their families, and to the Weissmans in Florida. I'm thinking about you and your family right now, and I offer my deepest condolences to all of you.

It was one of my greatest pleasures to meet your larger-than-life dad and to spend some time with you and Monsieur Gerry at Rockland Manor as we both tended to our ageing parents. I truly enjoyed discussing the ups and downs of the Montreal Canadians with him and, as you mention in your lovely tribute, also talking about his upbringing on Le Chenail in Hawkesbury, where my mom was also raised.

You have so many wonderful memories! I'm sure as the only man in household of five women, he had his hands full. But what a legacy he's left behind! So much love, and so many people named Joe.

Aunt Ella and family send our deepest condolences to Liz and family. Uncle Gerry was my favorite uncle in the family. He was so patient, kind, funny and truly a wonderful man. He has given me the gift of wonderful memories of my visits to Hawkesbury, and I will cherish them forever.
