Nécrologie de Mildred Annie Bates

Bates, Mildred Annie

June 19, 1931- March 6, 2020

Mildred, known as “Millie” by family, friends & caregivers, passed peacefully at the Palace Nursing Home in Alexandria after a brief illness. She was lovingly cared for into her final days.

Predeceased by her parents William and Muriel Bigelow.

Beloved wife of the late Tom Bates. Loving mother of Heather Kirby (Mike), Wendy DaDalt (Paul) and Glen (the late Laurel).

Dear grandmother of Amy (Paul Duchesne), Robin (Kurt MacSweyn), Erika (Danny Duval), Stephanie (Cody Allard) and Lawren DaDalt. Fond great-grandmother of Duncan, Finley,Thomas and Isla. Dear sister of Garnet (the late Regina), Emma MacDonald (the late Donald) and Marilyn Hull (the late Donald). Predeceased by her sisters Grace Kelly (the late Gerald), Doreen Arthurs (Everett) and her brother Drummond Bigelow. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

Millie was a quiet woman who loved her family above all else and devoted her life to caring for them & her home. She looked forward to family camping trips every summer and Sunday drives. In her later years she loved to tour the county side to see the local farms and animals. She especially liked to check out the Holsteins and actually put them to canvas in her painting classes. She also loved trees, living amongst them for much of her life. Flowers made her smile. She needed only the simple things in her life to be content. We will all miss her big smile & loving nature.

A Graveside Service will be held in the Spring at the Avoca Cemetery. In memoriam donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. To express your condolences or plant a "Tree of Remembrance" for Millie, please visit www.hillcrestfuneralhome.ca
