" In Memory of Alex"

It is with great sadness that I say "goodbye" to Alex. He was a dear sweet man with a zest for life. Always a quick chuckle and an inquiring mind, wanting to know about everything and anything, I will miss the weekly visits to see him and the long conversations we had. I am honored that he called me his friend !!
So sorry for your loss. He was such a pleasant man, always a gentleman.
This is Uncle Alex.....
Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there, to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson, or to help you figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be (possibly your roommate, neighbor, coworker, long lost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger), *but when you lock eyes with them, you know at that very moment they will affect your life in some profound way.*
And sometimes things happen to you that may seem horrible, painful, and unfair at first, but in reflection you find that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential, strength, willpower, or heart.
*Everything happens for a reason.*
Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck.
Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness, and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul.
Without these small tests, whatever they may be, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere. It would be safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless.
The people you meet who affect your life, and the success and downfalls you experience, help to create who you are and who you become. *Even the bad experiences can be learned from.* In fact, they are probably the most poignant and important ones.
If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious when you open your heart.
If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because in a way, they are teaching you to love and how to open your heart and eyes to things.
*Make every day count.*
Appreciate every moment and take from those moments everything that you possibly can for you may never be able to experience it again.
Talk to people that you have never talked to before, and actually listen.
Let yourself fall in love, break free, and set your sights high.
Hold your head up because you have every right to.
Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don't believe in yourself, it will be hard for others to believe in you.
You can make of your life anything you wish.
Create your own life and then go out and live it with absolutely no regrets.
*Most importantly,* *if you LOVE someone tell him or her, for you never know what tomorrow may have in store.*
And learn a lesson in life each day that you live.
That's The Story Of Life.
My Dear Uncle,
"Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there.
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there.
I did not die."
You were such an inspiration for all of us. We so much loved having an uncle that was a legend. So many people said so many kind things about you.. You were an amazing man and we will always remember you. You outlived Mom and Uncle Kenny and it was so wonderful to have you there as our last living relative.
You make me so Proud...words can't describe how much we all loved you and enjoyed your talks. You always took an interest in what we were doing and were always up on current affairs and what was going on in the world. We had great talks over the years and I will miss them.
The moon never beams without bringing me dreams,
Of what a wonderful uncle you were to me.
The birds never sing but a message they bring
Of what a wonderful uncle you were.
Just to bring back the time, that was so sweet to me,
Just to bring back the days, when we had such great chats.
Uncle Alex, I am going to miss you but I know you are now with grandpa, your mom, grannie, Mom, Uncle Kenny, Aunt Jean, Kim and all your cousins.
You are smiling down now at us saying ...its okay...death is nothing at all,I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other
That we are still are and more!
What a wonderful Uncle, just a brave soul you were, Uncle of mine.
You will always hold a spot down deep in my heart, 'Till the stars no longer shine.
Your soul shall live on forever,
On through the fields of time.
For there'll never be another to me,
Like you Uncle Alex.
I love you all the way to the moon and back a million, gizzlion times.
Missing you.
Your loving nephew,
Layden
PS Lauren and Kendall will also miss you.
Uncle Alex will forever be remembered as the dearest uncle of my childhood. He was a kind hearted gentleman who loved his farm , his cows (who all had names ,) his good neighbors and friends and his sister Edna my Mom. He taught me about the land , respect for all living things and how to drive a tractor when l may have been 10. His wonderful sense of humour and lighthearted outlook on life will always be an inspiration to us lucky to have known this remarkable man .
Rest in peace dear uncle, love lynda
