When it comes to Nolan, being such a fine neighbor, even through his advanced age you don't think about finality and it was a surprise to find out, thanks to his beloved Winona, that my next door neighbor was no more to be walking the street and have his talks with me. I always enjoyed talking about his younger years and he will not hesitate to profess his faith which I respected very much. He would mention his daring painting the high mast of my current home, 40 years earlier, and was having vertigo for him. He was a good man and his beloved companion was very much a caring and solid lady. I feel sad I did not got notified of his illness and depart but I will remember the many times we talk together and help him as a good neighbor.
My deepest sympathies to your Mom and the entire family.
My condolences to Mom MacLean and each of the family members. My heart was with you all as you grieved Dad MacLean's passing this week.
When I think of Dad MacLean, I immediately think of the many stories and songs that he entertained us with! His love of pie also comes to mind! I was recently watching a video that my brother, Ray, took at Alden & my 25th anniversary and we have a record of one of his stories followed by a song! (How timely for me to have just watched this!)
May Jesus, the gentle Shepherd, comfort you as you grieve his passing!
Love to all - Shirley (Alden's wife)
Errol & I had the privilege of visiting with Nolin and Winona just this past summer in Brownsburg. We had just stopped in at the Harrington cemetery to pay our respects to our Aunt Elsie Young. Struggling to his feet, Nolin and Winona welcomed us with charm, warmth, and joy. We spoke of memories, both spiritual and earthly. We talked about the family long gone and some far away. Nolin enjoyed the gentle rocking of his chair in the living room. From the front window, we could see the gables of the house where they lived for so long and where I remember visiting them and the children. At the end of our time together we spent some moments in prayer, covering our children and grand-children asking for greater Grace in their lives. It was a blessed moment and I felt that this would be the last time I would see Nolin. He was my Father's friend, one of very few, in brotherhood and in faith in Christ. He was, therefore, my friend as well. From my brothers, our families and I, Grace and Strength to all who knew him. Comfort and Mercy to Winona and the Children. May we all meet again, if not here, then in the sweet by and by.. With Sorrow and Love, Rev. Jeffrey Young
Im going to miss you Grandpa . You were always there telling stories . I remember sitting on you lap with Emily and you rocking back forth telling us about when you on the train or a story of when you were younger. Thank you for being a unbreakable pillar of the Gospel for me and showing me your unwavering faith In the Lord .
To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate;
A time of war, and a time of peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Thank you Grandpa .
