Bates, Tom Peacefully at the Hawkesbury General Hospital after a brief illness on Wednesday February 12, 2014 Tom Bates of Vankleek Hill passed away at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Mildred (née Bigelow). Proud father of Heather Kirby (Mike), Wendy DaDalt (Paul) and Glen (Laurel). Dearly loved grandfather of Amy (Paul Duchesne), Robin (Kurt MacSweyn), Erika (Danny Duval), Stephanie (Cody Allard) and Lawren DaDalt. Dear brother of Frances McCutcheon. Predeceased by his brothers Sam and Jaunty and his sister Mary. Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Tom enjoyed golfing and curling. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Hawkesbury Branch # 472 and an honorary member at the Vankleek Hill Curling Club where he volunteered countless hours to organize many events. Family and friends are invited to Celebrate Tom’s Life at the Vankleek Hill Curling Club, 136 Bond Street, Vankleek Hill on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Interment will be held in the spring at the Avoca Cemetery, Avoca, Quebec.
