Condoléances
To the Brock Families. Please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your Mom. Knowing she has once again been reunited with your Dad, Ken should bring you comfort. Fondest memories of the Brock home on Wall Street and the many happy times spent together playing and growing up in such a great neighborhood. Thinking of you all at this time. My most enduring memory of my Aunt Daisy was from a time when we visited her and her family in Northern Quebec and camped in their backyard. My Uncle Ken took us blueberry picking. I will never forget the sight of so many luscious, sweet berries literally falling off their branches and into our pails; quite an experience for a city kid. When we got back to the Brock's house Aunt Daisy had pie crust all rolled out for blueberry pies. I remember even my mother being delighted to see what she had done for us.
I also remember my mother telling me how, when she was a little girl, her sister Daisy had helped her get over her fear of thunderstorms by counting chimpanzees between the bursts of thunder and lightning. Together they would say "One chimpanzee, two chimpanzees..."
Nowadays my mother now suffers from advanced dementia. I told her the other day about Daisy's passing and despite her extreme deafness and inability to comprehend much of anything she is told, she seemed to understand and said, "Oh well then." I chose to think she understood that all things pass, even the powerful triumvirate that she, Daisy and Emma comprised.
Dear Jane and Ian Iwas sorry to hear of your Mother's death Deepest sympathy.
Sending our love to the Brock family. Daisy was such a sweet and smart woman, well loved and admired. Your sorrow is shared by everyone who knew her. I considered her an extension to the Thorne family and will always cherish our time spent together. I am honored to hold one of her paintings to always remember her.

My heartfelt sympathies for you all at the passing of your mom. She was the person who introduced me to choirs (Trinity Church choir,Riverbend!) which led to thirty years (and counting) of choral singing and great friendship. Wonderful memories.
Daisy's "pink" living room inspired me to do the same! at least for a time. Daisy was grace & humour. She was a lovely sight walking on Main Street with her staff. When Daisy called the Vankleek Hill Museum while downsizing, we were, and are, very grateful for the Brock Family artefacts the family donated. More recently, Daisy and I discussed police procedurals that we love to read. We had a good laugh because neither of us could remember any author names, so we exchanged 'clues.' Daisy's quiet and observant presence is missed.
Mum had been down to see the house prior to us moving in in August 2006. During her first visit after we moved down to Pincher Creek, her biggest wish was to "...walk out in the field and touch the prairie".
Despite it looking quite flat, there is plenty of uneven ground; there are bumps, holes, ant-hills, the "swimming pool"... but she wanted to walk out in it... so she did!
She looked like a pretty intrepid hiker togged up in her blue jacket, gloves and holding her big 'ol hiking stick. She did great and she loved it!
I think it was during this trip out that the three of us were sitting around the dining table after supper, chatting about all kinds of different subjects. Somehow the conversation turned to "The Royals" and all of a sudden Mum turned to me and said "Well, YOU'LL know that Martyn"!
I hastily shook my head and Allison laughed as she said "No Mum, Martyn's NOT a monarchist & doesn't really like the whole royalty thing".
I think that was the night that I unwittingly dashed her hopes of ever having a true-blue, monarchy-loving son-in-law... but she took it well.
So sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. I miss our little chats as Daisy would pass my desk. My deepest sympathy Kim
