Nécrologie de Helen Howes
Helen Howes of Vankleek Hill passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the age of 85.
Beloved wife of Glenn Howes, Helen was the cherished mother of Dawn (Dan) and Kevin (Sandra), and a proud grandmother to Jessica, Olivia, Amanda, Erika, Stacey, Kristen, and Leanne. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Brooklyn, Dawson, Oscar, Reese, Landon, Lennox, and Harvey. Dear sister of Mack Barr (Diane), she is lovingly remembered by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Hawkesbury General Hospital and the Ottawa Heart Institute for the compassionate care and attention given to Helen.
Helen was well known in the Vankleek Hill community as a devoted violin and piano teacher, inspiring both children and adults with her deep love of music. She also composed many beautiful instrumental pieces, leaving behind a legacy of melody and creativity. In addition to her musical talents, Helen had a fulfilling career in nursing, where her kindness and care touched many lives. She was also an integral partner in Glenn's Building Construction Company.
At home, Helen was cherished by her family for her warmth, her culinary talents—especially her cookies, cakes, and home-canned goods—and the love she poured into everything she did.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Vankleek Hill Fairgrounds, with sharing of memories beginning at 2 p.m. All are welcome to join the family in honouring and remembering her remarkable life.
For those who wish, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
A Tree of Remembrance will be planted in Vankleek Hill's McAlpine Forever Forest in Helen's name.
