Nécrologie de Thomas Downing
Downing Drilling
Peacefully at the McGill University Health Centre on Saturday, May 24, 2025, with his family by his side, Tom Downing of Calumet, Quebec passed away at the age of 74.
Predeceased by his parents, George Downing and Margaret Reynolds. Beloved husband of Kathleen “Kathy” Ivall. Proud and loving father of Blake (Hilary Hall) and Devin. Dear brother of Edna (Drummond Hall) and Norman (Eleanor Morrison). Predeceased by his brothers Richard (the late Nancy Dixon), Gordon (Barbara McAndrew) and Bruce (the late Dale Milway). Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Tom will be remembered for his dedicated work ethic, the pride he took in the family drilling business and his commitment, integrity, and leadership. He earned respect of clients, colleagues, and competitors alike. His success came not just from hard work, but from the way he treated people—with fairness, honesty, and a genuine interest in their well-being. Tom could often be found endlessly tinkering in the garage, always eager to lend a hand or offer advice to the next generation. His legacy will live on in his love of his family, his hardy Downing laugh, the joy he took in helping others - and in the lives he touched along the way.
