Nécrologie de Cecil Cass

CECIL CAINS CASS (1930-2025)

Peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2025 in his 95th year.  Beloved husband of Maureen (Allen) for 69 years until her passing in 2024.  Proud father of Wayne, Audrey Dumoulin (Keith Stacey), Gayle Rutherford (Wayne), Devon (Crystal Grapes) and the late Shawn.  Treasured grandfather of Julie (Patrick), Nathan (Sarah-Jane), Nikki, Melody, Jeremy, Adelle, Sloan, Jesse, Shawna, and great-grandfather of Lily, Caleb and Liam.  Predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Frances (Newton) and brother Leslie.

Cecil was born a farmer, it being his passion, hobby and business.  To pursue his passion for growing the latest and best crops, Cecil joined the Prescott Soil and Crop Improvement Assoc., then the Ont. Soil and Crop Improvement Assoc. of which he had been a member for 50+ years.  Cecil was always willing to experiment with cropping techniques and new farm machinery.  He was still enthusiastically farming at age 90 when declining health forced him into his role as an advisor.  Cecil was a long-time active member of the Prescott County Holstein Club, Prescott County Plowmen’s Assoc., Eastern Ont. Maple Syrup Producers Assoc., served as a Crops judge at the annual Ottawa Valley Farm Show and Seed Fair, served on the Prescott-Russell PEER Review Committee and was proudly the Past President of the Vankleek Hill Agricultural Society and the Ottawa Valley Seed Growers Assoc.
